What does a flashing red light attached to the side of a building indicate?
Leaving work I noticed a red light flashing on the side of the building near the door. The fire alarm/security alarm was not going off, I even disarmed it to see if the light would stop flashing but it did not. The light looks like it was built into the building rather than being attached after it was built. It seems like its some sort of standard thing but I don't know what it means.
It could mean anything, so it's probably best to check with your security team. One thing that comes to mind is that it could indicate a door is open. In the basement of my building there is a lot of cart traffic, including golf carts that are used to move stuff around. One of the offices that has a door into that hallway has a light above it, so when the door is opened the light flashes, and anyone coming by will know that someone is coming out of that door so they can be careful not to run them over. The light near the door of your building may serve a similar purpose.
